The Arapahoe Basin ski area closed for the season Wednesday, with hot weather spoiling plans to stay open until July 4.
Spokesman Alan Henceroth says it was a great disappointment that within a matter of hours so much snow melted.
The ski area high in the mountains near Loveland Pass traditionally stays open longer than other national resorts.
The state had heavy snow in October, November and March, but recent warm days forced officials to shut down operations.
