A Pueblo County man loading track onto rail cars is pinned from the knees down. Now, he is fighting for his life after both of his legs were amputated.

The accident happened Tuesday around 5 p.m. in the eastern part of the county, on the 2600 block of Lime road, at Chemetron Railway Products, Inc.

Forty-five-year-old David Clark was pinned at the legs, severing them from the knees down while working on the rail.

Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick of the Pueblo County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened while Clark was doing his normal, everyday duties at work.

"He was reaching for a box of bolts at the time, and the rail was being loaded onto the rack and he was pinned between the rail and the rack."

From the sheriff's preliminary investigation, they've determined that there was no foul play, and that this was just an industrial accident.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and his coworkers who were there by his side," says Kilpatrick.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors have now taken over the investigation.

Hospital officials at St. Mary Corwin tell 11 News that David Clark is in critical condition.

thank you for all of your prayers for my uncle david. he is a christian man, and we know that he is in God's hands now. we ask that each of you pray contiuously for him and our family that they not lose faith in our all might God! currently, we are unable to get to pueblo, co to be at his side, but we know that all will be ok as long as no one loses faith. We are also asking everyone to pray, and send cards to him so when he does wake up from the coma, he will feel everyone's love. Uncle David is not married and has no children, so we are all his family! Thanks again, and may God bless each of you abundantly!
