A man loading track on to the rail cars was pinned below the knees by heavy railroad equipment at Chemtron Rail Products on 2621 Lime Road in eastern Pueblo County.

Here is the official press release from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Department:

On Tuesday January 13, 2009, at approximately 4:56 p.m., Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Pueblo Rural Fire Department and American Medical Response were sent to Chemtron Rail Products located at 2621 Lime Rd in eastern Pueblo County on a report of a traumatic injury.

When deputies and paramedics arrived on scene they were informed that “Point Man” David Clark had been pinned and both of his legs had been amputated below the knee.

Mr. Clark had been loading track on to the rail cars and tying them down. As he was reaching for a box of bolts, another rail was being placed onto the rack on the car. Mr. Clark was pinned between the rack and the rail below the knees. A co-worker working with him at that time was able to notify others of the accident and they immediately called 911. Paramedics and first responders responded quickly and Mr. Clark was flown by Flight for Life to St. Mary Corwin Medical Center’s emergency room.

Mr. Clark is in stable condition. The investigations division was utilized and preserved the scene. No evidence of foul play was found. We have determined this to be an industrial accident at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Clark, his family, and his co-workers.
