The new City Council Member, who's replacing Charles Wingate, was sworn in during an informal council meeting Monday afternoon.

Darryl Glenn will fill the open district 2 seat, left by Wingate.

City Council unanimously appointed him during last Thursday's informal meeting. Glenn will complete the remaining 2 years left on Wingate's term. He says he plans to focus on city transportation, infrastructure and economic development.

Meanwhile, former councilman Wingate has cut a deal to avoid jail time.
As part of the deal, Wingate pleaded guilty to one count of
embezzlement, stemming from misuse of a city owned credit card. That means the rest of the charges against him were dropped.

Wingate will be under probation, and he's required to pay back all the money to the city. The length of the probabtion will be decided at his sentencing hearing in September.
