The Colorado Springs Fire Department confirms to 11 News there was a structure fire at an apartment located at 115 S. Academy in Colorado Springs Thursday morning.

Fire officials say they got the call at 8:08 a.m. The fire started in an apartment bedroom in the Mountain Country Estates in the third floor of the building. Fire officials say the fire was caused by two kids playing with a lighter inside the room.

The fire was extinguished before 9 a.m.

Police say neighbors told them they believe the residents of that apartment may have been cooking meth inside the home. Police are investigating that claim.

Colorado Springs police say there were no roads closed in the area.

This is the 10th structure fire in 15 days in Colorado Springs, which is very unusual.
