New State Fishing Licenses

Traditionally the first weekend in June is the time when anyone can fish anywhere in the state without a license. But, after this weekend, those who want to fish must have a license.

This year the procedure for getting a fishing licenses is different than in years past. Instead of getting a hand-written "conservation certificate," all of your information will be computerized. Your licensing information is then added to your driver's license, and when it's swiped, that information will also come up.

The Division of Wildlife hopes the new fully computerized system will make things easier for people buying licenses.

The DOW does, however, recommend you don't get rid of your old conservation ticket just yet. Not all places that sell licenses have installed the point-of-sale computer terminals yet.

This fall, Colorado's hunting licenses will also be sold using the computerized system.

In Colorado Springs, the Division of Wildlife's office is located at 4255 Sinton Road.
