I-70 Repairs Needed

Colorado Congressman Mark Udall says the state need $2.5 billion to pay for improvements to Interstate 70.

Udall, a Democrat from Boulder, visited the sinkhole that opened up in the eastbound lanes last week near Vail. The sinkhole, which was about 20 feet across, closed the highway for 2 days, and continues to cause delays, with only one lane open in each direction.

Heavy rain and snow melt runoff washed out a culvert under the road, opening the sinkhole.

Udall says the $2.5 billion would be used to make improvements Colorado's largest east-west highway between Clear Creek County and Eagle County.
