A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
The head of the Colorado Council on the Arts has been fired under pressure from the governor to save money.
Executive director, Fran Holden's departure effectively completes the elimination of the council's staff and puts the state at risk of losing $614,000 in federal funds. The National Endowment for the Arts will only distribute grants to states with functioning arts councils.
Gov. Owens doesn't want any more than $40,000 spent on payroll and other operational costs at the arts council. Holden earned $87,000 a year.
