FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) -- So it has divided its training of its reserve forces into two divisions, one of which will be based at Fort Carson.

The post will be in charge of training 220-thousand National Guard troops.

Major General Robert Mixon, Fort Carson commander, couldn't say whether a significant number of reserve and guard soldiers will be brought to Fort Carson itself for training.

In the past year, the post has absorbed ten-thousand soldiers, and it already has substantial responsibility for active-duty soldiers.

Brian Binn, president of military affairs for the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, says the guard training will be another economic boost for the city.
