4-Year-Old Shoots Babysitter

This is so very shocking.. wonder what a 4 year old kid knows about guns except for those in video games. How can kids have access to guns? oh ya i forgot this is US.

Something is not right, shotgun attack? I'm sorry but it would be very difficult for a 4 yo to handle a shotgun or even load it i dont care who you are. I've taught my kids how to shoot they know how to handle them and they still have difficulty with a shotgun.

I have 4 kids and I can't even imagine them thinking at the age of 4 being angry enough to shoot someone or a gun being an counter to have a foot stepped on. My question is 'what is this kid being exposed to at the age of 4 to see this is as a problem solving' ?

Regardless there is something very wrong here. Either way the child should be placed out of the home. What 4 year old would even shoot a gun not even to mention it being out of anger. I would be curious to know if the babysitter/ parent/guardian has anything on file.

Ditto v. My thoughts exactly. It seems strange that there were several teenagers babysitting several children all in the same house.! ? Can a teenager only handle baby sitting 1 child these days. I would be cautious about the care of the children when you have a group of teenagers together. when I used to babysit I was not allowed to have friends over whether it was at my house or at the people I was babysitting for. It was not social time it was a responsibility for a child.

What is with all these shootings involving such young children?! I grew up around guns, shot guns on a range when I was 4-5 years old, but I knew better than to play with them or use them against someone who wasn't trying to hurt me. What happened to the days that children and adults respected guns and the power that they have? Thankfully this incident wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I understand that the first reaction is to lock up your guns but think about it for a second. Someone breaks into your house so you are going to tell the criminal to "Please stop" while you get your gun out. Parents need to teach to it rather then avoid it!

Sounds fishy to me. I have a 4 year old, and I would never keep a loaded gun in a closet. Other reports say there were more teens in the household-could it be they were blaming an innocent four year old for some thing they did? NEVER KEEP A LOADED GUN IN YOUR HOUSE IF YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN!!
