Colorado Springs water managers are trying to stem criticism over a water pipeline plan. One alternative being considered would assure streams in nearby Pueblo won't run dry because of the project
A regional authority representing Colorado Springs, Fountain and Security detailed five possible paths for a pipeline to carry water from the Arkansas River.
The plan is to build a 66-inch-diameter pipeline, three pumping stations, a new water treatment plant and two reservoirs near Colorado Springs and Fountain.
Pueblo leaders say the pipeline would take too much water out of the Arkansas River above Pueblo and jeopardize its river restoration project.
