Coloradans React to Supreme Court Ruling

Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family spoke out Thursday, regarding a US Supreme Court decision overturning sodomy laws. A spokesperson for the organization says the ruling puts the institution of marriage and the welfare of children in peril.

The high court ruled 6-to-3 to strike down a Texas law that bans gay sex acts, even in private. The ruling apparently also invalidates sodomy laws in 13 other states, including states where sodomy is considered a crime for heterosexual couples as well as homosexuals.

But a lobbying group for gays and lesbians, called Equal Rights Colorado, issued a statement shortly after the ruling, saying justices have recognized that gay and lesbian people are entitled to equal protection of the laws.
