The Carmelo Anthony era has begun in Denver.
The Nuggets chose the 6-foot-8 forward Thursday with the third
overall pick in the N-B-A draft. Anthony is young. He was a freshman last season for Syracuse, and he averaged 20 points and nearly 10 rebounds a game in the N-C-A-A tournament to lead the Orangemen to the national championship.
Denver also chose Sani Becirovic as a second-round choice, the 46th player overall.
While the Nuggets are in position to sign free agents, they aren't sure whether forward Juwan Howard will return next season or pursue free-agent offers.
