A crook is on the loose, but not before he’s caught in the act. Colorado Springs Police think the public can help catch him.

A man robbed the TCF Bank Monday morning off of east Platte, near the Citadel Mall. The robber didn’t show a weapon, but apparently handed the teller a threatening note.

"No one was injured," said Springs Police Lt. David Whitlock.

The robbery at the TCF bank is just one of about a handful in the past week. The Public Service Credit Union was hit last Monday and the US Bank on Briargate was robbed just before Christmas.

"It’s not an uncommon. We see a jump in robberies and burglaries. It’s obvious that we see an increase in crime with the economic downturn,” said Whitlock.

"Our bank clearance is good, about 80 percent, so if you rob a bank in Colorado Springs, we're going to catch you."

The suspect wanted for the TCF Bank robbery is about 5-feet-7, 200 pounds with light-colored hair in his mid 30's. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat and blue jeans.

If you recognize the man, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
