Our wet Spring mya have postponed the fire season, but experts say you should still be concerned... and many people are.
A recent survey by Safeco Insurance finds Colorado homeowners are worried about the threat, but many don't know the steps to take to defend their homes.
11 News talked to some people living in fire-prone areas in the Springs about fire mitigation, and found most were pretty well educated on the subject.
Alaine Rabin lives in the foothills of Cheyenne mountain. She says she and her neighbors are taking all the proper precautions, everything from clearing scrub oak and other vegetation from around their homes, to clearing out flammable paint cans stored in their garage.
Other people living in the area are replacing their cedar shake roofs with less flammable tile shingles.
