Redistricting Fight

Republicans are asking the state Supreme Court to keep a Democratic congressman out of a fight over redistricting.

An attorney for the Republican-controlled Legislature wants the
high court to prevent Representative Mark Udall from joining
Attorney General Ken Salazar's lawsuit as a plaintiff.

But Secretary of State Donetta Davidson has asked the Supreme
Court to throw out the case, saying Salazar can't sue her because
the Constitution requires him to defend her.

Republicans want to keep Udall from reviving the suit if the
high court rules in Davidson's favor.

Salazar says the redistricting plan is illegal because the state
Constitution calls for redrawing district boundaries only once
every decade.
