The chairwoman of a panel investigating a string of rapes and sexual assaults at the Air Force Academy says the panel will look at the culture and leadership at the academy.

Tillie Fowler is chairwoman of the new congressionally created panel investigating the academy.

On Wednesday, she paid courtesy calls on Colorado Senator Wayne Allard and Representative Joel Hefley, who both sit on the academy's Board of Visitors.

Allard says she told him the panel will check out who was responsible.

The Air Force and Defense Department inspectors general are also investigating how the academy handled 57 reported sexual assault cases since 1993.
