A 2-YEAR-OLD GIRL IS IN CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN DENVER THIS AFTERNOON, AFTER AN EARLY MORNING FIRE CRITICALLY INJURED HER.
IT HAPPENED AT THE *ASPEN TOWNHOUSES*... ON EAST PIKES PEAK.
THE SMALL GIRL WAS RESCUED FROM THE FIRE BY SPRINGS POLICE OFFICER *ERIC REED*... WHO WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE ON THE SCENE.
6 OTHER CHILDREN WERE IN THE HOME WITH AT LEAST ONE ADULT... WHO WERE ALL TREATED FOR SMOKE INHALATION AT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
FIRE INVESTIGATORS SAY THERE WEREN'T ANY WORKING FIRE ALRMS IN THE HOUSE.
THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED.
