The court clerk asked attorneys in the case to return to the courtroom on Tuesday afternoon.

The jury has been out for 10 days. They reached partial verdicts against five of the former guards earlier.

Prosecutors say the defendants kicked inmates, smashed their heads into walls and mixed human waste into their food during the 1990s.

Defense attorneys say their clients used reasonable force within guidelines set by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
