Arson Trial

By: Associated Press

Forty-eight-year-old James Floyd Cleaver and two other men were
indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2001.

They're accused of setting a fire that destroyed the Internal
Revenue Service office in Colorado Springs in 1997.

Cleaver and 52-year-old Thomas Dowell of Dallas were to stand
trial in federal court in Denver beginning yesterday. Dowell's
cousin, Jack Dowell, was convicted in April and is awaiting
sentencing.

A key witness in the case now says Cleaver told her the Dowells
were not involved.

Federal prosecutors asked Judge Richard Matsch to
postpone Cleaver's trial. Thomas Dowell's trial began as scheduled.
