Overnight a disturbance passes through parts of S Colorado... this will bring a push of moisture falling as rain in the Plains with a few late night/early morning showers possible in Pueblo. For the Palmer Divide, N & W El Paso Co. and Teller Co. it will fall as snow... bringing a few additional inches of accumulation in mainly between 1am and 6am, lingering into the mid morning. The Colorado Department of Transportation says rain will be the
deciding factor in whether crews are able to complete their work by
C-DOT hopes to have at least one lane open in each direction by
the end of the day.
Rain and runoff from heavy snow sent a mountain creek on a
rampage over the weekend. The water washed out a culvert and opened a 22-foot-wide sinkhole in I-70 east of Vail.
A 24-mile stretch of the interstate has been closed in both
directions since Sunday. That section carries up to 30-thousand
vehicles a day in June.
