A group of Coloradans reached the top of Mount Everest a day after the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of the world's highest mountain.
Aspen ski instructor Ted Mahon, Gunnison resident Jesse Rickert were finalists in Outdoor Life Network's ``Global Extreme Challenge.''
Denver cameraman Jake Norton and guide Michael Brown of Boulder, also reached the summit with the contestants.
Luis Benitaz is an Alpine Adventures International guide from Boulder. He reached the summit for the third time, along with fellow Coloradan Jean Michel Valette and 12 other team members.
Some 50 current or former Coloradans have reached the summit of the 29-thousand-35-foot Everest, making up the largest number from any region outside of Nepal and Great Britain.
