One man was killed Thursday when scaffolding being used at a store construction site on the east side of Colorado Springs collapsed.
A spokesman for the Colorado Springs fire department says the accident happened a short time after lunch at a site where a Wild Oats Market is being built near Powers and Galley. Fire Department spokesman Lieutenant Neil Luehring says the man was an employee of a masonry company that was working at the site.
Luehring says the man realized he was in danger and started to run but was hit by the falling framework. Part of the wall that was under construction also came down. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name wasn't released immediately.
Two other workers suffered minor injuries.
