Air Force Academy Graduation

Cadets at the Air Force Academy tossed their caps in the air and the Thunderbirds screamed overhead during their graduation ceremony today.

One hundred-38 women and 836 men got their second lieutenant commission from the Colorado Springs school that has been soiled by
a sexual assault scandal.

The senior commanders who led the 974 cadets through their last two years are gone. As are two cadets scheduled to graduate who were omitted at the last minute.

Sterling Barnes is on administrative hold after being accused of running an Internet pornographic operation from his dormitory room. Academy spokesman John Van Winkle declined to say why the other cadet didn't graduate.

Meanwhile, Shannon Moran of Buffalo, New York, didn't let the scandal dampen her accomplishment. She says the feeling is better than she thought it would be.
