Crews began working Saturday to reopen a section of Interstate 80 in Nebraska where a trucker died after crashing into a bridge.
The bridge collapsed late Friday night on the busy freeway just northeast of the Colorado border. A semitrailer slammed into the bridge's center support columns, causing the truck to erupt in flames. The driver, whom authorities have not named, died en route to a Colorado hospital.
Three other eastbound semitrailers were damaged, one when the
bridge collapsed on at least part of the trailer, trapping it. The
drivers of those trucks received only minor injuries.
