11 News has obtained the arrest affidavit in the murder of 63-year-old Edward Fitzgerald. According to the court document Edward’s son 36-year-old Sean Fitzgerald confessed to police that he killed his father in front of his mother.

The affidavit states that Kim Fitzgerald, the victim’s wife called 911 just after 2 a.m. on Thursday morning. She reported that her son, Sean Fitzgerald, had stabbed her husband.

The affidavit goes on to say officers responded to the Fitzgerald residence at 1349 Lindenrose Grove and Sean immediately surrendered to police. His mother, Kim, was in the upstairs bedroom of the house with her husband who had been stabbed in the stomach. Medics on scene were not able to save Edward, he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sean Fitzgerald was taken to the Police Operations Center and that is when police say he confessed to the murder of his father.

Kim Fitzgerald told investigators that she and Edward were in bed asleep when Sean burst into the room and stabbed Edward. Kim said she pushed Sean and he left the room and that’s when she called police.
