Another ski resort is getting ready for the 2008-2009 ski season.
Eldora Ski Area in Nederland will open four trails and four lifts Friday. The resort says it has a 24-inch base of machine-made and packed powder snow.

At least a half-dozen ski resorts are already open. But the industry expects a brutal season because of an economic downturn that has skiers staying home.

Earlier this week, a Canadian company that operates three Colorado resorts, including Copper Mountain, announced layoffs. Industry watchers say more layoffs could be coming if business doesn't pick up.
