While the cause of last Thursday's building explosion in Pueblo remains under investigation, the victim of the deadly blast will be remembered by family and friends this week in Pueblo.
Ashley R. Johnson, 22, was in the boutique next door to the building when it exploded. The powerful blast caused the roof of that boutique to collapse. Johnson and her best friend, 23-year-old Jennifer Flower were both trapped beneath the rubble before being rescued by emergency crews.
Johnson was taken to a nearby hospital where she died a short time later from her injuries. Flower was airlifted to Denver, where she is now in good condition.
Johnson's funeral is planned for Thursday at George McCarthy Funeral Home, located at 401 Broadway Ave. The time for the funeral arrangements has not yet been set.
