State Farm to Inspect Homes in Fire-Prone Areas

The crackdown applies to people living in high-risk wildfire
zones in six states.

Foresters have been pressuring insurance companies for years to
require homeowners to reduce brush and trees near homes. They also
want homeowners to use fire-resistant building materials,
especially on roofs.

State Farm says it wants to teach customers that they can live
where they want -- but encourage them to live there safely.

The company will provide advice to homeowners in Colorado, Utah,
New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming on how to make their homes safer.

Homes in the very highest-risk areas will be inspected.
