Hundreds gathered at Butts Army Airfield to remember three fallen servicement. Fellow soldiers say they were brave men who loved to fly.

Chief Warrant Officer Hans Gukeise was passionate about race cars. Chief Warrant Officer Brian Van Dusen packed lollipops in his duffel bag for Iraqi children. And Sergeant Richard Carl often had to be ordered to take time off.

They were just a few of the memories shared this morning at a memorial service for the three Fort Carson-based soldiers killed one week ago today. The members of the 571st Air Ambulance Medical Company were on a mission to rescue an Iraqi child when their Blackhawk helicopter crashed into the Tigris River.

These men died serving their country. Between them these men leave behind six children, two wives and a fiance. The accident that killed them is still under investigation.
