Miller Moth Season

They’re as much a sign of spring as snowmelt runoff and bears. And this year miller moths are expected to be out in the thousands.

The moths are migrating from the plains to the mountains. They’re feeding on nectar here in the Front Range. Experts say they don’t cause any structural damage to your home, or eat your clothes, but they are a nuisance.

Gabe Mata from Terminix says, “It’s a cycle that’s going to run, you’re not going to eliminate them, not going to get rid of them.”

But there are a few things you can do to cut down on the number of moths in your home:

1. Use yellow lights around your home, or no lights at all.
2. Make sure all the screens in your home are in place and in good condition.
3. Seal any cracks around doors and windows.

Experts say there are more moths out this year, because there is more moisture.
