Lightning Strikes 4 People

Extreme weather in Gunnison County injures four.

Yesterday, four hikers were struck by lightning as they huddled beneath a tree during a thunderstorm there, including a 16-year-old who was resuscitated twice by CPR.

Carbondale Fire Chief Ron Leach says the 16-year-old was suffering from numbness and tingling and was transported to a hospital in Glenwood Springs.

The Aspen Times reports a 22-year-old woman suffered burns on both legs, while the strike left another man's face bloodied and another person with minor injuries.

Initial reports were that seven people were struck by lightning in the Silver Creek area of Lead King Basin, about four miles north of Marble.

Additional information about the victims isn't yet available.
