The academies for the Air Force, Army and Navy would have to report annually to Congress on how they are dealing with sexual assaults under a provision expected to be included in an upcoming Defense Department bill.

At a hearing in March Colorado Senator Wayne Allard said he planned to offer the language that would require the Air Force to provide the Senate Armed Services Committee with that information.

Now Allard spokesman Dick Wadhams says the proposal has since been expanded to include all of the service academies.

Allard's office has received 51 complaints of rape or sexual assault at the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs – including 20 from cadets currently enrolled at the school. Several investigations have been started into the complaints.
