Chicken
The chicken salad was made by Illinois-based Blue Ridge Farms.
Company executive Richard Siegel says 100 percent of the salad
had been accounted for. He says it was never delivered to any
retail outlet and was contained at distribution centers.
The U-S Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection
Service had said the chicken salad was distributed in Colorado and
four other states in announcing the recall yesterday.
No illnesses were reported. But listeria can cause serious and
sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and
others with weakened immune systems.
