Colorado Springs Facing $23 Million Budget Shortfall

Paychecks for municipal manager's are extravagant. It's pitiful their lifestyle takes precedance over the necessities of the city. Priorities are not in the right place.

All of us as a community need to hold the folks in charge of the spending accountable. There is no excuse for there to be a financial shortfall on the budget in El Paso county. Money is being wasted. I agree the community has the right to see a monthly financial report on spending. If the community is allowed to see what money is being spent on what in which dept. things would turn around quickly. Those in charge need to have a pay demotion due to the poor job they have done to this point. CS is a very wealthy city there is no excuse. The load on the tax paying citizens here has well taken it's toll. Enough is enough!

Didn't the city just purchase a rather large number of new buses? Is there any logic to cutting Firemen? I strongly believe they can let some of the Police go! - Oh, yeah, that's right..traffic tickets are a big cash cow for this city. Check the Colo. Spgs. police blotter and see how effective local law enforcement is. We can all expect much higher property taxes too! We all want to see where are taxes go..it surly is not going to roads, schools, community programs, etc.. Show the Citizens of this city where and what programs are being implemented to save the city some money and just what 'cuts' so as we all have at least a working understanding of what's taking place here.

And I'm sure that the city manager is still making the exact same salary sitting pretty while all these people lost their jobs. There are too many people dependent on the bus. As it is, the buses don't really run in nicer areas. And the minute that there isn't enough man power to put out a fire or respond to a 911 call, there will be many regrets to cutting any fireman jobs. The foster care programs have been cut. All these things that are being cut and we are suffering for it. What's the problem with the budget? I have a hard time believing that there isn't enough money. I think it's just money poorly managed. I want to see every single penny accounted for. Where is all of the money going that they are cutting important programs?

My property taxes have went up $23 a month for the past 3 years but yet the road conditions are dismal, cuts everywhere within the city and rising costs for everything continue. When will our city officials stop wasteful spending and spend our hard earned money on things that are relevant? Sounds like some of the city lawmakers need to be cut with all the wasteful spending we have seen in recent years!
