Panel Says Palin Abused Power Save Email Print

A bi-partisan legislative panel's chief investigator says Alaska Governor Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper.

The investigator found Palin in violation of a state ethics law prohibiting public officials from using their office for personal gain.

Palin's attorney disagrees. He says in order to violate the ethics law, there has to be some personal gain, usually financial. He says the investigator "failed to identify any financial gain."

The inquiry looked into Palin's dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

The report doesn't recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation.

Gosh Kelvin, I'm flattered you think of me. Can you say ACORN, Martinexz ? Do some research.

Dang Kelvin, are you really that afraid of Kay of just plain weak ? Cracks me up how you all pick on one person whether they post or not. Talk about sick.Obama already wants to FINE us if we don't mandate his health control, Mccain asked him 3 times in the debate what that fine would be and each time he evaded the answer. Same as lying to me. And she wasn't proven to have done anything. That's just someone's vengful rambling. If she had done NOTHING she could have been blamed for that also. We don't mind a black president. We don't want an Arabic wanting to attack Pakistan president.

Wow Dusty!, a Fox news watche, huh? doc and anon, I agree with you, these critics just know how to mudsling and make paranoid accusations without proof. and Brubacker, your Republicans have made so many false accusations about Obama simply because they dont want a black guy as President so dont accuse Demorcrats of lying, GW Bush holds the record for President being caught in the most lies! (WMD's ayone?, or how about Enron)

Who cares! What politician HAS NOT abused their power?

Democrats will lie about anything & anyone in this day & age.

The makeup of the so-called bi-partisan panel was seven State Representatives and seven State Senators, the majority of which are partisan Democrats. According to Alaska law it is the jurisdiction of the State Personnel Board and not the Legislature to investigate any accusations of wrong-doing. We have here nothing other than the Liberal Democrats indulging in political smears and character assasination. That and the leftist media and Associated Press once again attempting to steal a National Election.

Doc, you forgot to mention there were more republicans than democrats on the panel too. They had the power to stop the investigation, but chose not to. It was started before McCain picked Palin, so they can't claim it was partisan politics. Where is Kay, who said one needs to hold their candidates actions responsible? Seems like the normal religious right attitude. Whenever anyone they support is caught doing something wrong, they are completely silent. Whenever anyone whom they don't like does anything even marginally questionable (in their mind), it is like the sky is falling. They are so two-faced, it makes me sick.

Doc you're an idiot jumping the gun. Sounds to me like the bro-in-law and this idiot Commissioner Walter Monegan all the sudden are trying to get revenge and using Palin's running as leverage to smear her name. Wooten had been in hot water before Palin became governor over allegations that he illegally shot a moose, drank beer in a patrol car and used a Taser on his stepson. The Palins said they feared for their family's safety after Wooten made threats against them. She still claims her innocence and still has the right to prove it !

Talk about corruption, abuse, look at Obama's campaign funds.... they wont disclose names of donors, taking money from Iran, Libya, Palestinians etc, why wont they make disclosures? what about the Rezko case.

If she is already been found at fault for this, how would she do being VP? Makes you wonder...

In addition to being unqualified to hold the office of V.P., Palin has now been shown to be petty and to have violated ethics laws. The findings were by a unanimous bipartisan panel, yet I anticipate Palin's defense will be "partisan politics." Disturbingly, there are many fools who will continue to back Palin solely because of her party affiliation, just like they continue to back President George W. Bush, who I predict will be remembered as the worst president in our nation's history.
