A new investigation is under way into the actions of Colorado Springs City Councilman Charles Wingate, who has been accused of pawning a city-owned computer several times.

Authorities say the 34-year-old Wingate could face nine felony counts for allegedly telling the pawnshop he owned equipment belonging to the city.

The new allegations surfaced recently when a police detective assigned to routine pawn shop investigations recognized Wingate's name on a list at Acme Pawn and an affidavit says when the officer compared the serial number of a Dell laptop computer pawned by Wingate it matched one owned by the city.

He already is awaiting trial on five forgery and embezzlement charges after being accused of using a Colorado Springs Utilities credit card to order pizza and take a cash advance.
