Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
The former City Council approved the plan in December of 2002. Many of the Council members campaigned on their pledge to take back the benefits. They say they're just keeping a campaign promise.
The only Council member to who voted in support of the benefits, was Vice Mayor Richard Skorman. He made a motion to table the issue for 90 days. He even offered his own salary to cover the cost.
The handful of city employees who currently have same sex benefits will keep them until the end of 2003.
