Police shot and killed a pit bull this morning that had attacked an officer, biting him on the hand.
Police spokesman John White said the officers had gone to a hotel because they learned a wanted man was there.
The dog was put into the bathroom by the man's female companion but escaped.
The three officers shot him after he had bitten one of them, causing a serious injury to his left hand.
It is illegal to own a pit bull in Denver.
The name and condition of the wounded officer was not released.
He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment.
