The Adams County Sheriff's Office says an autopsy is planned for a 42-year-old man who died after he was struck by lightning while walking to his car during a summer storm.
The man was returning to his car after shopping at the Mile High Flea Market about 3:45 pm yesterday when he was struck by lightning in the parking lot.
He was taken to North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn't been released.
The National Weather Service in Boulder says the storm was in its early stages when the man was hit.
Little rain fell in the Denver metro area, but one-and-a-quarter-inch hail was reported in Arvada and 40 to 50 mile per hour wind gusts also were reported.
