3 Men Arrested In Rocky Ford Drug Bust

Three men from Rocky Ford were arrested on charges of possessing meth and intent to distribute.

Raymond Abeyta, 34, Frank Gonzales, 41 and Eric Garcia, Jr., 29, were all arrested Thursday.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, law enforcement with the Arizona Department of Public Safety stopped a 2009 Nissan Maxima on I-40 in Flagstaff, Ariz. on Wednesday. They searched the car and found two packages of heroin that weighed 4.75 pounds. That was in the padding of the rear seat back rests.

Officers also found three pounds of methamphetamine behind the glove compartment. They believe the drugs were headed for Rocky Ford.

The driver cooperated with the officers and the DEA to set up a delivery for Thursday. The delivery was in Rocky Ford and immediately after a federal search warrant was executed and the three men were arrested.

The DEA seized heroin, meth, as well as about $100,000 and a money counter.

Multiple offices are investigating, including: the DEA, Rocky Ford Police, Otero County Sheriff's Office, Southern Colorado Drug Task Force.

If the men are convicted they could spend 10 years to life in prison and a $10,000,000 fine.
