Three vehicles collided at an intersection within a school zone Thursday morning.

The crash happened at Pikes Peak and Chelton just before 7:40 a.m.

Police say the crash, which injured three people, was caused by the driver of a Mazda Protege running a red light. An oncoming Dodge Dakota crashed into the Mazda, which then hit a Nissan Maxima that was in the right turn lane. The three injured were all in the Mazda.

The 53-year-old driver of the Mazda was cited with careless driving and running a red light. The crash shut down traffic at the intersection for two hours.
