The fire chopper may be a thing of the past now, that an Oregon company has reconfigured a 747 into the world's first supertanker.
The super tanker is capable of carrying more than 20,000 pounds of water or retardant.
The water is pressurized to come out like rain, and fire retardant is released in the same way.
No word as to what it might cost to use the super tanker, but if all goes according to plan, certification will be finished by July with a U.S. Forest Service contract to follow in August.
