Gov. Owens was among those who attended. The 22-year-old Slocum was one of ten Marines killed in fierce fighting March 23 near the Iraqi city of An Nasiriyah. Slocum was buried in a private ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Friends and relatives remembered Slocum as an adventurous young man who loved the outdoors. They say he went from struggling in high school to become an honor-roll student after deciding to join the Marines when he graduated. vehicle.

The car then exploded, killing the soldiers and the woman. Family members and friends are honoring the memory of a Colorado soldier killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A memorial service was held in Longmont this afternoon for 36-year-old Randall Rehn (rain). He died along with two other soldiers from his unit April 3 in fighting near the international airport in Baghdad.

Rehn was with 'C' Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment based at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His funeral will be held later in nearby Lawton where his wife and daughter live.

Rehn's mother says officials told her that her son was in a Humvee when it was hit by hostile fire, but coalition forces also were firing in the area. An investigation may take up to 90 days and could delay the return of his body to the United States.
