Army Captain Russell B. Rippetoe of Arvada was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. A funeral service was held Thursday morning in Northglenn for Lance Corporal Thomas J. Slocum.
Gov. Owens was among those who attended. The 22-year-old Slocum was one of ten Marines killed in fierce fighting March 23 near the Iraqi city of An Nasiriyah. Slocum was buried in a private ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
Friends and relatives remembered Slocum as an adventurous young man who loved the outdoors. They say he went from struggling in high school to become an honor-roll student after deciding to join the Marines when he graduated. vehicle.

Rehn's mother says officials told her that her son was in a Humvee when it was hit by hostile fire, but coalition forces also were firing in the area. An investigation may take up to 90 days and could delay the return of his body to the United States.
