Fort Carson says more than half of all its soldiers who have deployment orders will be gone Tuesday night. As many as 900 soldiers left Monday and another 900 will leave Tuesday.
For many local businesses, the deployments mean fewer customers. Most businesses frequented by military personnel are bracing for the loss, but they say there is only so much they can do.
One local restaurant, Boston Wraps & Spuds, says they're expecting about a 20% drop in customers when the deployments are complete.
The saving grace the businesses can look to, are the families of the soldiers, wives, husbands and children who will continue to spend money.
Another hope many businesses owners are holding is more revenue will be coming in with reservists being sent to Fort Carson.
