More Lynx Reintroduced In Colorado

Four more lynx have been released in Colorado as part of efforts to reintroduce the longhaired,
tuft-eared cats to the state.

The cats were released yesterday. Twenty-eight more will be released in the next several weeks. Trapping, poisoning and development have wiped out the native lynx population in Colorado.

At least 34 of the 96 lynx that were reintroduced to Colorado in 1999 and 2000 are known to have survived. The plan now is to get enough lynx to start breeding so they can sustain the population.
