The kids weren't out on Friday, and it wasn’t because of the weather.

Schools district 20, 38 and 49, the Da Vinci Academy one of them, were on lock down.

With a suspect still on loose, accused of kidnapping and possibly breaking into a Gleneagle home, kids from the academy piled on the bus at the end of the day with an officer keeping a close eye.

In front of Da Vinci, parents lined up waiting for their child to get escorted out.

It was called “kiss and go” where students waited inside the academy until they could see their loved ones in plain view. From there, school officials would walk them to the car.

At the Da Vinci Academy, things went smoothly. The parking lot cleared out fairly quickly.

With a suspect still out there, parents will be on guard, keeping an eye out.

School officials were thankful this lock down came on a Friday, leaving kids home safe for the weekend.
