On Monday, about 400 soldiers deployed from Fort Carson, and more servicemen and women from their units will follow in the coming days.
The troops are members of three groups:
The soldiers loaded into planes at Peterson AFB Monday for the trip to the Middle East. Their exact destination is not being released because of security reasons. However, they are expected to report to Central Command, which overseas troops involved in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The 3rd BCT was originally intended to base out of Turkey. However, when those plans were delayed, their orders were switched directly to CENTCOM.
