Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin appeared at a rally at the Colorado Jet Center in Colorado Springs Saturday in front of thousands of supporters.

Sarah Palin took the stage first and spoke for about 12 minutes to introduce Senator McCain.

Palin said in part, "This is absolutely spectacular. This is so great to be here in Colorado Springs, and those mountains behind us remind me of home, and you certainly know how to make us at home. I'm so honored to be here, in company of John and Cindy McCain, the next president of the United States. Colorado is going to be a hard-fought battle, but we will win and we're counting on you now."

Palin also spoke of her son who is in the Army and is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq next week on September 11.

McCain began his speech by saying he was honored to be at the home of the Air Force Academy and the home of many servicemen. He also spoke about Colorado Springs being the home of many Olympians for years of training, including wrestler Henry Cejudo.

McCain drew great applause when he exclaimed, "My friends, we're going to win this election and we're going to win it in Colorado."

*We will be uploading the entire rally, that KKTV.com carried live Saturday, to our Web site. Because of the length of the video it may take time to upload to our site. In the meantime you will see our Web cast until the video fully loads. Thank you for your patience.

Palin did not leave the country until June 2007! She has had a passport for 15 months! And shes going to be the back up to a 72 year old guy that had face cancer 4 times.

Kevin, Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white. Thus Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd. Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior. His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.

Kevin what drugs are your parents on? I hope you avoiding taking them while your judgement may not be as impaired as your parents seem to be.

I have to say this. I am tired of the Republicans and their supporters playing the "Patriotism" card. I am pretty sure any Democrat can be as patriotic as an Republican. To say that someone is anti-American for being a Democrat or whatever is just garbage. Last time I checked, the First Amendment states that we have the freedom to say WHATEVER we want. We are very lucky to have this freedom here in the US, and a lot of countries don't have that. To say that someone is being Anti-USA is in fact being unpatriotic! We can praise or bash the government or the President or each others parties all we want. That's what makes America special; We can agree or disagree on anything. I am voting for Obama for the fact that he is DIFFERENT. The Republicans and Democrats have all said the same thing over the last 8 years, and done nothing. I believe Obama is different, and that is why I am voting for him. It's not because I'm Anti-American or a left wing nut, its because I want something different.

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT 2008 !!!

My parents, who are very religious (attend church weekdays, volunteer their time in the Mexico prisons, support Whispering Winds, support the Jewish foundation [even though they are not Jewish], etc) read Obama's first book as part of a book club and told me that they were quite impressed. They even told me they would strongly consider voting for him. I guess they are part of that rare breed of Christians - they have an open mind, their hearts are not hardened and they actually act the part of a Christian. Now I wonder what all the radical right folks will say about them...

Women have fought to get into the workforce for many, many years. Women have fought to have equal rights as men. When this happens people have a need to critize and belittle. Nothing is ever said when a man is absent from the home to provide a income and pursue a career. Instead of being negative try to give her the credit she deserves. She has worked hard to get where she is. She is a compassionate, educated, responsible individual.

Jason, your comments concern me, especially "crash a few Navy jets". IF you don't know the differences, here they are; Obama: leftist, Marxist radical, (read his books and see who his, and Michelle's heroes are) pro-taxes, anti-military, anti-2nd Amendment, pro-abortion, will appoint leftist judges, hides facts related to his past, and seems to NOT feel proud to be an American (I know, I know, he's wearing his flag pin again, ha, ha!) Mac: war hero, anti-tax, super patriot, anti-abortion, pro-military, pro-2nd Amendment (not as strongly as I'd like!), sincere, and will appoint judges who strictly abide by our Constitution. I guess since you consider yourself more liberal and Mac/Sarah do not have your values (actually, it's really the other way around), why would you even consider voting for Mac/Sarah...just vote for the dems and be done with it!! By the way, I'm kinda confused by your FOTF comments. I'm almost sensing an anti-Christian, anti-FOTF, attitude. Could I be right??

Jason, are you saying you're Independent LOL ?

Posted by: Jason Location: Colorado Spings on Sep 8, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Hmm... I'm not for sure that a conservative choice is the best way to go for the next 4 to 8 years within our community. Granted, I am registered Republican, and I do consider myself as more liberal rather than conservative, but I can’t help feel that McCain/Palin does not embody the same values as my self. By the sounds of things, it appears that McCain is a true Republican, in that he wants to limit government, which might not be the best thing for the military families in our town. Heck, even my family member will be affected by a reduction in military personnel, to a certain extent. Granted, Obama might not invest in a stronger American military presence either, but I can’t help but feel that there should be a better choice. -Focus on the Family (FOTF) isn't the only thing Colorado Springs has going for it. If it weren’t for the 'clean industry' initiative for the Springs during the 80s and 90s, FOTF wouldn't even be around. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m off to crash a few Navy jets.

Liv, Not sure where you got your definition of ignorant. My understanding of the word is that it is a lack of knowledge and/or understanding. You have the right to disagree with her and what she stands for but just because you do not agree with Palin's values and morals does not give you the right to call her ignorant. It only shows your own ignorance (lack of understanding).

Posted by: Bill from Boston Location: El Paso County on Sep 8, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Dear Tina, well said! You are not afraid to stick up for your values and show your love of your country. God bless you and your family ...you made my day!! God bless Mac and Sarah also....they are a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to vote for them!!! OH, I'm a genuine conservative and patriot from Boston...hard to believe, I know...ha, ha!

The rally was awesome! I was glad to be there with my community and family.

Posted by: llm Location: colorado springs on Sep 7, 2008 at 04:29 PM
I have to confirm the protestors were few, nothing worth reporting. Yes, where was the view of the 10,000 or so people waiting and standing in the sun to support and see their choice. Afraid to show the mass of supporters? Enough of the stage performance - talk to the people in the crowd.

Posted by: Tina Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 7, 2008 at 03:53 PM
Liv, I think you made your point now give it up! Obviously you don't mind paying higher tax's and you support abortion than Obamie is your man. I am a grandmother of 10 one who is still in the mother's womb. If I had not raised my children that abortion (murder in the eyes of God) was wrong I probably would not be the happy grandmother of 10 beautiful and precious grandchildren. My heart tells me to vote for the man who has my values and morals and that is John McCain and Sarah Palin. I want you to know Viv, that I was a volunteer at the rally and and happen to be right in front of the podium about 7 feet from our next president and his VP what a honor! I Iove my country and I am proud of being an american Hispanic women, Jesus follower, mother of 3 and grandmother of many more to come.

Trying to follow this incredible campaign by web. Thanks, CO Springs, for giving them a warm reception! (I'm sure the speechs will change over the weekend to new material - be patient)

Posted by: Troy Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 10:25 PM
I attended this rally, and watched the News video coverage on the 10:00 news. I found your coverage was completely inaccurate. I counted eleven total protestors as we (11,000) supporters walked past them in the long line to the entrance. Your coverage said that the protestors lined the streets! Your video, never once panned the enormous flag waving crowd, outside the airplane hangar where the stage was. I hope you intention was based on your political opinions otherwise you have a bunch of amateurs trying to make a news broadcast. I'll watch the other channels to see if they did any better, and probably refer all my left wing liberal friends over to watch your network. Please let me know if I can also refer them to a link on your website to donate to moveon.org or a junior college journalim school.

I went to the McCain/Palin rally today & aside from a poor speaker system, it was very cool. What was really appealing was the cousin from PUEBLO of the Salazar bros. (yea , those Salazar bros.!) who's supporting the Republican ticket. Also a lot of Democratic Party types wearing "McCain/Palin" stickers. Very intersting.

Posted by: janet Location: colorado springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 09:12 PM
there speeches today were nearly verbatim to bits and pieces they gave at the DNC-could they not have come up with something original-more lies maybe.

Posted by: Joe Location: Co. Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 08:58 PM
Wow, Liv. Pro-choice, Bible-mocking, and calling a fellow woman ignorant because she has conservative values... and you've never voted Democratic before? I'm glad you finally found the right party for yourself! Congrats!

Posted by: Amy Location: Co.Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 08:49 PM
So sad that a woman is called ignorant for having a differing opinion from that of the left... liberal fascism at work.

Posted by: Jen Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 07:56 PM
I tried to remain open minded and listen to Palin and McCain speak today on the radio. What a disappointment to hear the same exact speech by Palin as she gave during the RNC. I wasn't impressed the first time and was even less impressed hearing it again. The democrats definitely have my vote.

Posted by: Rachel Location: Denver on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:59 PM
I want an anti-abortion, Bible "thumping" woman running this country, and so do MANY, MANY, MANY others! So you might want to get used to the idea, Liv.

Posted by: Bill from Boston Location: El Paso County on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:12 PM
Liv, I'm sorry you feel as you do. You didn't say that you voted Republican either...?? Have you actually voted at all?? Let me guess... your comments indicate a person who is left of center, pro-abortion, pro-Hollywood, pro-government, anti-gun, not a Christian (of course), and just does not recognize Sarah as a woman who has strong, pro-American values, is down-to-earth (PTA, plays hockey, hunts, eats moose burgers, etc.) and is definately NOT ignorant. I believe she can handle any man or woman, especially those that are leftist, anti-USA, and elitist phonies. Oh, by the way, did you read where the dufus phony dems threw away thousands of USA flags...???? They were re-distributed to patriots who attended the McCain/Palin rally. Is this a good sign in this competitive political climate?? Do you really want to vote for people who allow this ...??? I hope not.

Posted by: Michelle Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:11 PM
I was at the rally today and was absolutely honored to be there. I AM casting my vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin...they're without a shadow of a doubt, the RIGHT choice. ****COUNTRY FIRST****

Posted by: Rachel Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 6, 2008 at 05:39 PM
At the convention today I confirmed all I already knew about McCain/Palin. They love God and their country. I took home one of the "throw away" flags as a souvenier to remind me of what happens when you vote for someone who can only talk well, unless is comes to explaining what he has done wrong, then it is someone elses fault. I love their dedication and spirit! Not to mention their ability to stand up to what is wrong to achieve what is right! Thanks for the prayers and "bible thumping"!!

Posted by: Nancy Location: Pueblo West on Sep 6, 2008 at 05:29 PM
My husband and I attended the rally today and we will be PROUD to cast our votes for McCain/Palin.

Posted by: Darrin Location: Mile High on Sep 6, 2008 at 05:18 PM
Never in my life have I donated to a political party, but after the bold, brilliant decision of Senator John McCain to entrust the vice presidency to Sarah Palin, I will. And I will do so with a profound sense of patriotism and pride. What a fantastic Vice President Sarah Palin is going to be! A friend and advocate to parents of children with special needs (not to mention Cindy McCain's love and life's works) is something for our country to look forward to. Thanks Senator McCain and we're pulling for you Sarah!

Posted by: Liv Location: Pueblo on Sep 6, 2008 at 02:56 PM
Never in my life have I voted democrat, but after listening to McCain/Palin I have made my decision (along with many, many, many others) to NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN/PALIN. Who wants a militaristic in charge with an anti-choice, bible thumping, ignorant woman running our country?
