In accepting his party's presidential nomination, Republican John McCain says there should be no doubt that he's going to win.

McCain says he accepts the nomination with gratitude, humility and confidence.

The Arizona lawmaker thanked supporters who stayed with him even "when the odds were long." He told delegates in St. Paul, Minnesota, that he would not let them down.

McCain took time to offer praise of rival of Barack Obama, even though the two will "go at it" during the remaining days of the campaign. He said they "are fellow Americans."

McCain said he'll work to get the government to help the nation get "back on the the road to prosperity and peace."

His remarks were briefly interrupted by a protester, who was drowned out by shouts of "U.S.A." McCain responded that Americans are tired of people yelling at each other.
